Treasure

For you're viewing pleasure: This card is for a scavenger hunt I'm doing. I thought it turned out wonderful!!!! Just the way I like it. I started out with a 5x5 inch card. I then took a piece of Karen Foster Design paper I had laying around and I colored in the x with a Sharpe so you could see it a little better. I then used the Cracked Glass technique on my "treasure map" to make it look old. Then I covered the entire thing with Cateye cheastnut roan. I also covered some tan ribbon with the Catyeye to make it look older. The chipboard skull was in my stash from who knows where. I covered it with Cateye too!!!! It was a Cateye kinda day!!!!! I sealed my "treasure map" with a matte sealer. I then stamped treasure over the top of it using a Heidi Swapp stamp inked with Stazon stone grey. Quick and easy!!!!!!!

Quick birthday

I made this in super lightning speed at the last min, but I liked how it turned out! Although I glued it together and then realized I should inked the edges. Oh well. The card base is a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of black card stock. What company you say? Who knows! All it says is "dark black" on the sticker. Isn't black always dark? Any way the second layer is a piece of SU whisper white cs(4" x 5" )that I embossed with the stylized flowers Cuttlebug folder. I then punched the scallop circle(SU tempting tourquoise) with my Marvy giga punch. I used my paper piercer to punch the holes. I used my Cricut to create the 2 1/2" inner circle with whisper white cs. I then stamped the images( SU Fun and Fast Notes) with grey stazon, using my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure the placement was correct. I colored in the image with my prismacolors(non photo blue and canary yellow). i embossed the frosting on the cake with white ep, and added some glitter to the flames for added bling! The ribbon I got a hl for a dollar. And there you have it folks a super quick card for my little sisters 18th birthday!!!!

Recipe card for swap

Hello again!!!! So I signed up for this swap for 6X6 recipe cards for Christmas right. Well, what I failed to think about was........I'm in full Halloween swing over here, not quite thinking about Christmas yet. So, I dealt with it, and this is what I came up with. Sorry the picture didn't turn out the best.

This one shows some of the detail.

The blue paper is Bazzil-seawater cut to 5 1/2x5 1/2. The dark blue card stock I matted the recipe on was misc. The white paper is from Paper comp-. Its called Arctic chill(6x6)-this one is shimmery white wish you could tell in the picture. i rounded my corners with a large corner rounder.Stamps: SU-Season of Joy( stamped in Night of Navy SU ink) and Stamp abilities- Swirls and Curls Embossing powder: Stamin stuff- Winter Wonderland. I used the Cuttle bug for the snow flakes and added Stickles waterfall on them. The tree was outlined with my Sakura Quickie Glue pen and dusted with Stampendous multi colored ultra fine glitter to make it "Pop"!!! The recipe and the title were printed on reg computer paper using a font I got here. The ribbon is from EK Success. I really like how it turned out!!!

Be Unique

OK, so I had a revelation the other day while watching a webisode on Scrap in Stlye TV. I've been scrapping for a few years, but never really found my "STYLE". Well with my revelation came my NEW style inspiration. I realized that I had been letting other peoples work define what I thought was good art. This is not good. Inspiration from other people is fine, but one should define themselves as an individual, hence this lo using my newly invented style. Paper: 7 Gypsies, overlay(I cant remember what comp its from sorry :) Stamps: IOD build a frame collection II, stamp abilities paisley background(on slide mount), "B" stamp hl foam stamps Felt flowers: prima Slide mount: dollar scrapbooking Stickers: around the block shrinky stickers(doodle alphabet) Chipboard photo corner: Basic Grey Ink: Su pink passion Stazon white and black .
The journaling reads: I had an epiphany yest. In life, scrap booking, etc. I have tried to put myself in a box that I thought I should be in. I focused on what society thought was "pretty", "good art", and "normal"; but I'm don! I am an individual! I set my own rules, go my own way, create my own version of UNIQUE.
****** Special thanks to Ali Edwards your interview changed my crafting life!!!!
Hope you like it. I LOVE it, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
Now I'm off to finish a recipe swap. 1 down, 7 to go!!!!!!!!!

Love Story

Well the sun is finally shinning here in the big D, adobe is working for the time being, and blogger is actually letting me upload photos!!!!!!!! I finally get to post woooo hooooo!!!!!!!!! Ok, for your viewing pleasure is a lo I did using the IOD paintable water color paper. See previous post for details on paper. The flowers and leaves were colored with prismacolor pencils(click here for a list of prismas that match SU colors) spring green(pc913) for SU gable green, canary yellow(pc916) for SU yoyo yellow, process red(pc994) for SU pink passion, non- photo blue(pc919) for SU tempting turquoise. I used the magic gamosal technique with blending stumps from hobby lobby, and odorless mineral spirits that I bought at ace hardware. The border and the text backgrounds were made by taking my Niji watercolor brush and dipping it in pink passion and tempting turquoise(Pushing the ink pad down on a page protector created a nice pool of ink to water color with, for me. You can also use re-inkers, I just don't have any,YET.) The text was made in Word and printed off on vellum. The ribbon is also from the IOD Prima line. The title was from DCWV vellum quote stack(wedding and romance) that I water colored the back of with pink passion. It dried bumpy and I kinda liked that rough look. The picture overlay is from my minds eye bohemia collection. Heres a close up of the journaling entry.

All and all I really like how it turned out. The picture doesn't really capture how bright it is though. Thanks for looking!!!!

Fall card

This is a simple thank you fall card for my grandma. The card base is 5x5 my fav!!! All the papers are American crafts: The Goods. The ribbon is misc. The stamp I got at the Stamp Asylum in Plano, its called heather but has no comp name on it. Side note: Please support your local scrap and stamp stores. Even if it costs a little more. You're not only keeping that company alive, but also keeping crafting in general alive. Card making and scrapping is a personal thing, dont let the big name companies beat out the little guys who give us friendly personal service not to mention wonderful ideas!!!!!!!!! Anyway back to the card, I also used my cuttlebug folder swirls on the side piece and misc brads. The sentiment is a rub on from Basic Grey. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Amanda's Comp book

I wanted to thank my friend amanda for introducing me to SU! so I decided to make this for her.
ME Bohemia cardstock and bling, cricut for letter and flowers, misc brads, leather rope charms and beads from micheals.

A sad day in DFW
